October Blog

 My October Final Reflection

This month as usual and normal I continued with the online classes. As the nation lifted and eased the lock down in some low risk zone, i picked up another strategy. I asked them all to try to come to two classes per week (Monday & Friday) for contact teaching, and then started the with lesson It all went quite a bit better than I expected. What most surprised me was that the students who worked the hardest and shone the most were largely students who hadn’t stood out before we went online.

This time I taught both Mathematics and Dzongkha lessons. I  have touched almost all the topics and taught them all in this month of October which is given in the SIM. during online classes as usual I used We Chat as the main mean of teaching. And during contact teaching I tried to use TV for some lesson topic.I felt that children were learning better in contact teaching that that of online teaching and learning. But with hard work i have tried to make them learn enthusiastically and comprehensively. Some time for online I spent some amount for recharging my children's mobile number.

The picture below shows contact teaching happening in the classes.

For the last couple of  months of online education and contact teaching feel like a success, but I can’t say that I am excited by the prospect of having to continue online. When catering these online classes, I picked the low hanging fruit, but in so doing I have almost exhausted the content from my syllabus that can easily be adapted for online learning. Children were also trying to send video of their studying at home.

Indeed, it wasn't very comfortable to teach through this We Chat forum due to many technical glitches, somehow i could manage to conduct my online class satisfactorily. After making my children watch the video, I provided my students with some sets of activities to be done. I gave them one hour time to complete their activity. I also reminded and guided them time and again until students were able to do their activity correctly. The students works were also corrected and send to them for rewriting. It was really challenging for me to get normalize my teaching, as there were many unexpected flow of teaching. In fact it was a very momentous and unforgettable memories.

September Reflection on Integrating ICT in Classroom

September Reflection on Integrating ICT in Classroom

To commence with, unlike my previous month blog post, now I have realize that how ICT integration has very strong effect in education and provides enormous tools for enhancing teaching and learning. Also, i have known ICT support teaching and learning processes in a range of disciplinary fields such as interaction between students and knowledge and accessing information. In fact, ICT enable new ways teaching and learning when used appropriately. ICT also offers the potential to meet the learning needs of individual students.

Today I will be reflecting one specific lesson topic that I taught on one of the days in September. The topic that I taught was "Measuring Mass" class III. Firstly, I informed all my students to be online on We Chat. Then I posted one video on Mass explaining its definition and its features. i asked children to watch the video carefully so that after watching they would be doing some activities based on the video they have watched. After the video, I also explained them about the mass and its unit been used.

Although it wasn't very comfortable to teach through this We Chat forum due to many technical glitches, somehow i could manage to conduct my online class satisfactorily. After making my children watch the video, I provided my students with some sets of activities to be done. I gave them one hour time to complete their activity. Like the earlier post of August Month, some of the students were not able to complete their work on time. so, I also reminded and guided them time and again until students were able to do their activity correctly.

Integrating ICT in teaching and learning has really made us feasible to teach our children despite this pandemic situation. Interestingly, i didn't feel that I was teaching my children online instead i felt i was teaching was in my regular teaching in real classroom setting. The lesson topic that i wanted to teach was presented well. Also the most commonly barriers I faced were lack of time; lack of access; lack of resources; lack of expertise and sometimes lack of support. Lastly, it was a great day teaching. i ended my session by making them watch another video.

ICT Integration in Teaching and Learning

Reflection on ICT integration on Teaching and Learning

This video has been posted in We Chat forum for the children to learn.

As we all know that integrating ICT in the classroom teaching has become necessity in today's contemporary world. Actually every school in the world are all trying to integrate ICT in the curriculum. Similarly in our country too is trying out to integrate ICT in both adapted and prioritized curriculum. ICT has played a very pivotal role especially this time of pandemic circumstances whereby children are asked to learn online through different telecommunication.

Now to begin with my August month teaching analysis, currently I am teaching Class PP-III in one of the remote schools in Zhemgang. I teach Dzongkha and Mathematics. Since from the time of school closure i have been teaching my children using ICT. I use the social media apps called We chat because most of the parents in my place use this apps. Whatever lesson I delivered, I deliver through this app most of the time.Even I use this apps for video sharing.

But the main challenges that i found was many a times I could not connect to some children. When I tried to contact with them, sometime they said that they didn't have data balance. Sometime the parents took their phone when they went for work. Sometimes they said there was no proper network for downloading their activities worksheet and videos. Despite all these hassles, yet I found integrating ICT in delivering the lesson most interesting and enjoyable.

As the idea of online teaching was very new to both teacher and students, at first we found bit strange. Now children getting used to it. They send their completed work through We Chat and I correct and assess. then i send them the activity back to them. Sometimes I make them read online in We Chat. Children are taking active participation in the lesson. I found most of the parents are also concerned and cooperate with their students. Even as a farmer, i found them guiding and molding their children at home.

For evidences of my teaching I have uploaded some video and pictures of my teaching.
